What’s happening in 2017?
Our first school event was held on 1 March 2017 at Queen Mary University of London. Details here.
We are running more events with schools and details will be published here soon.
We hope to hold another symposium later in the year.
We plan to hold more screenings, inviting filmmakers to come and discuss their work.
And we are involved with the Rainer Werner Fassbinder retrospective at the British Film Institute, which you can book here.
Looking back over 2016
2016 was an exciting year for the German Screen Studies Network.
In May we screened Das Wochenende (Grosse, 2012) starring Katja Riemann and were delighted that Frau Riemann was able to attend the screening and answer questions from an engaged audience.
In September, we ran our fourth GSSN symposium, Living Pasts, Moving Present. A more comprehensive summary of this three day event will be posted on the website in due course.
In November we welcomed the Austrian film director, Ruth Beckermann, whose film, Die Geträumten, portrays the poetic relationship between Paul Celan and Ingeborg Bachmann.
